"Sweet Wishes"

This week is all about "My Cute Stamps" over at ABC Toys & Crafts. Make sure to stop by and see what the rest of the Design Team will be doing with some of these Adorably Cute Stamps.

As I was posting this card over on the ABC Toys & Crafts Design Blog, I realized that I must have gotten myself wedged into a rectangular (A2 card) RUT!! SOOOOOO let's break out of the Boring and do something a bit more creative!
How about a Round card instead of a rectangle?

How about Water Coloring instead of Copics or Creating your own Patterned Paper?

How about an Altered Item?

How about a Gift Set?

And if all else fails Let's Go Shopping and SAVE 15% off of "My Cute Stamps"

BOO-tiful Pumkin head gift Set & lots of STASH

Today is
Takin' Out the Stash Tuesday
and an
ENABLER ALERT

Totally messed up on the Main image for my project and used a Digi that isn't part of the S2G 25% off promotion, however, the kitty inchie that I used IS ON SALE!!! Click on the Blinkie above to see the Halloween images. If ya gotta have it NOW, then DIGI (click HERE) is what you are looking for. When I purchased the Pumpkin Flavored Shampoo & Conditioner for my daughter, I knew exactly how I would package them. I mean how perfect is that Kitty with the pumpkin on his head. I will probably write some silly statement about no matter how big for her britches she gets, she will ALWAYS be my LIL' PUMPIN HEAD ;o)

Check out all the STASH that I pulled out. Box was created with a heavy weight piece of cardstock or maybe even cardboard that had originally been used to ship something to me. I liked the color of it but I have been HOARDING it. I broke out a neglected embossing folder. Used a couple large eyelets to attach my handle and some WILD ribbon (no really the name is Wild and is available HERE).

Here is this week's sketch and the "TWIST" is to use DISTRESSING & A HOLIDAY THEME

For my card, I used a rather large, whimsical image titled (SG H6 Mice & Mistletoe ). I didn't alter the sketch but I did flip it to accomodate my stamped image. Doesn't that ribbon and bow look at though they are holding the Mistletoe over that funny little couple? After running the pink CS and a new piece of our new Digital paper through my Cuttlebug, I distressed the edges using the side of my scissors and thumb nail. I wanted the Digi paper to stand out a bit more so I inked the edges & used the stamp pad to distress the paper a teeny bit.

Congratulations to last weeks Winner: KELLY

Bubble Gum Bubble Gum in a Purse ????

Happy Saturday ;o) Hope everyone is finding time to do some of the things that they actually enjoy doing. I cannot complain. I worked in the yard, did a few things around the house, spent time with my son, watched a movie and still found time to make this very fun little project. I didn't create it for any particular reason or for any particular reason. Is it not super fun though? So many elements that I just adore. Can you guess what they are?

Polka Dots, Ribbon, Gum Balls, Gum Ball Machine and a fun little container. These are just a few of my favorite things!! The entire project was centered around this Lockhart Gumball Machine. First I colored it then added Diamond Glaze over the part that would be glass, as well as, the little gumballs scattered around the base. Not sure if you can really see that in the photos? I then mounted it to a little metal tag frame, squeezed a little glue around the edges then sprinkled on some super fine glitter. I painted a Popsicle stick with white acrylic paint then glued that to the back of the Gumball Machine, thus creating a little stake.

I used a cutting die from Stampin' Up! to create the purse and the little sentiment tag. In order to make the purse more durable, I die cut the purse twice. First using a plain thick cardstock and then again using a Designer Paper. I simply glued them together making sure to match up all of the edges. I used 2 different circle punches to create the polka dots/gumballs around the bottom.

The sentiment "You are the one" is also Lockhart. I was just over at Susana's Custom Art and Card Designs and noticed that she is offering a small gift with purchase and there is also a special on Smooch. Buy 7 get the 8th one FREE!!! O but wait, that's not All - SMIRK STAMPS are 50% off.

REMINDERS: (FYI, there are only two entries into both of the following challenges listed below, therefore, these two ladies will have a 50/50 chance of winning free stamps and $22 towards merchandise at S2G!!!!!)
You have until Sunday Night to submit your project. I would be tickled to death if you would come and play with myself and the other Ladies with Attitude!!! Click on Gracie or scroll down to the Twisted Thursday #7 post.

You have until Tuesday to create a project for the S2G 222 color challenge using the Nursery Rhyme "Mary Mary Quite Contrary". Again either click on Gracie or scroll down to see complete details under the post titled S2G 222 Challenge.

TWISTED THURSDAY Sketh Challenge #5

It's Twisted Thursday for Shirley's 2 Girls! Ready for a super sketch and a chance to win your choice of stamp from the S2G product line? This week, Karolyn has created my most challenging sketch to date for the Twisted Thursday challenges! You gotta try this one -- so you can let me know if my Mojo is slipping or if the appearance of simplicity is just an illusion. This week's twist is to use my personal favorite, EMBOSSING. Here are the deets:
  • You are not required to use Shirley's 2 Girls stamps, but if you have them, we'd love for you to use them.
  • Upload your card to your blog and/or favorite online gallery. Please use keywords S2GSC5 and shirleys2girls.
  • Then, post a direct link to your card using Mr. Linky on Karolyn's Blog. You can click on the Gracie Twisted Thursday logo above which will link you directly to Karolyn's blog.
  • Deadline for submitting your card is Sunday, April 5, at midnight PDT.
  • Random.org will choose the winner, so everyone has a chance to win their choice of stamp from the Shirley's 2 Girls product line. Plus your card will be showcased on Karolyn's blog as well as the Shirley's 2 Girls store blog.
My sample uses a very funky little Chicca titled Gusto Set (SG59). Check out the crazy shirt that I dressed her in and that wildly fun hair do. Not the greatest photo but if you check back tomorrow, I will be able to capture one in better lighting. Then you will be able to see the vibrant colors and the fun blue wire that I wrapped around. The dry embossing was achieved with my Cuttlebug and the Perfectly Paisley embossing folder. As usual I twisted the sketch and made it my Own. What do you think? Need more inspiration? Check out these fabulous creations by the rest of the Ladies with Attitude DT:

Thanks so much for stopping by! Please join in the fun and a chance to win!! Please check out the blog post directly below this one for a very IMPORTANT MESSAGE.

BEST Friends Forever

Gonna try to keep it short and sweet tonight. I'm not feeling very well. A few years ago, I broke the lower part of my back while sledding up on Mt. Etna (our Volcano). Just goes to show ya that Island girls have no business traipsing around in the snow anyhow. Nonetheless, at school yesterday I was moving full speed ahead when I ran right into one of the secretaries desks. Besides the huge goose egg bruise on my thigh, I tweaked my back pretty badly. How in the world I hit my leg and the results were to injure my back confuses me. All that being said, the Motrin makes me ILL!!!!

My friend, Laura Frederickson is celebrating 300,000 blog views by hosting a challenge with prizes. Click on her name to go check out full details. The challenge is to "Case" one of her cards. Here is the card that I choose to case.

Can you see the resemblance?? Keep in mind that when you case someone's project, that you must give that person credit and you must change it up to make it your own. I changed the A LOT but I think you can still see the basic layout???

The colors I chose just so happened to be the Tuesday Color Challenge colors over on SCS. Yes I am trying to kill two birds with one stone. Why not right? I mean I had to have a sketch to go along with the colors. Anyhoooooooooo, I ran my DP through the Cuttlebug using the Textile embossing folder, sanded the raised image so that it appears distressed and white. I then used a straight stitch and sewed around the edges. The stamped image was colored using copics. The scalloped corner pieces were punched using a circle punch and just slipping the corner of the DP & the CS into the punch. For the pink, I inked the edges.

The little tag was a piece of scrap paper that I trimmed, stamped polka dots, stamped the sentiment, adhered a felt flower and pebble. I dressed my naked buttons and adhered them with glue dots. This card is HEAVY and I don't think I am quit finished just yet. I am going to play around with the inside tomorrow.

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I have a few more tricks up my sleeve and I can't wait for my Twisted Thursday sketch challenge. Last weeks was so much fun. Thank you for everyone that participated. Ciao Ciao

Congratulations to ****** ME *******

Please excuse me while the dust settles from my little happy dance....... What's all the fuss you wanna know? I, Me, Moi have been selected to be April's Guest Designer for Susana's Custom Art and Card Designs. I will be the Guest Designer for the Karen Lockhart line!!!!!!!!!!!

I am posting this super late, well maybe it is considered early (12:45 am) because I have been trying to narrow down my order with SCACD. Besides receiving free Lockhart stamps, I also received a 10% discount that I quickly used for some amazing new products that I have been dying to own. Flower Soft, Smooches, Baubles, Diamond Glaze, Shimmerz and Laura Ashley DP are all the RAGE right now and they are all on there way to me.

Now don't get me wrong, I love my
Shirley's 2 Girls Design Team and will not be leaving them. I am just adding to my Creative Resume'...............

So with all this excitement I should get to the CARDS..... Last week I mentioned Festa Della Donna, the celebration of women. During our annual "Girls Only, Night Out", we had a gift exchange. Doing what I do best, I created a boxed set of cards. To me they seem rather simple, however, so many times I give boxed sets and I hear later that the recipient can't bear to send them out!!!! O the shame ---- ok so I know exactly how the hourding thing works, therefore, I created these in the hopes that they would actually be utilized.

I used my new circle Nestabilities that were a gift from my good friend Karolyn (she is also on the S2G DT and SCACD DT). Thank you
Karolyn ;o) The stamps are from PTI's Stationery Set. Can you see on the scalloped edge that I stamped a little matching scroll onto each scallop? Presentation is everything and keeping with the simple elegant look, I simply sandwiched the flap of the envelope into an embossing folder and ran it through the Cuttlebug. For packaging, I placed everything into a clear box, tied it with a wide ribbon and created a simple little tag.

The entire gift took me about an hour. Now let's hope that they get used to brighten someones day with a simple, elegant act of gratitude............................

Thank you so much for stopping by and allowing me to share my happy moment with you. Take a moment to check out
Susana's Custom Art and Card Designs.... Tomorrow I have a WOW project to share with you (Hint: Easter)

Viva La Rooster

Time is running out for This month's Viva La Verve weekly challenges. Lucky for you time is running out before I fall asleep sitting up holding this computer...... So I'll get straight to the point

Today's card is based on February's Week 1 Sketch with a Twist. The twist was to add some form of embossing. I placed my DP into the Textile embossing folder and ran it through the Cuttlebug. I then sanded the raised areas to create more of a distressed appearance. I also inked the edges with white ink. I cut the ovals using my Cricut and again ran the larger oval through the Cuttlebug using the Textile folder again. This time I inverted the embossed image to give it a bit of contrast. Both oval were sponged around the edges with brown ink. The Rooster was heat embossed using black embossing powder.

I added a printed cotton ribbon a few brads and Finito..............

Valentine Treat Box Tutorial

My goal is to give you enough details that you will be able to create this too. If you do make your own, leave me a comment with the link so that everyone can take a peek.

Supplies and Tools needed:

Cuttlebug
Nestabilities (square scallops)
Stylus
Paper Cutter or Score Pal

1/8" hole punch
Permanent Glue (I use Tombow)

5 - 4"x 4" scallop squares using a heavy weight Cardstock (CS)
4 - 3"x 3" scallop squares using coordinating Designer Paper (DP)
1 - 1 1/4" x 8 1/2" Strip of CS
1 - 1" x 8 1/2" Strip of DP
2 - coordinating brads

1. Using your cutting/embossing machine, cut out 5 large scalloped squares. Set the 5th square to the side, this will be the Box Bottom.

2. Take 4 of the large scalloped squares and Score along 3 of the sides at 1/2"

3. The un-scored side will be the top of your box - Take your paper snips and cut off the last scallop on the bottom corners - This will allow the bottom to be folded inwards.

4. Fold the sides forward - Apply glue - Take another side and press them together, making sure that the scallops are aligned - At this stage it will look like a hollow Square Tube.

5. Make sure that the bottom scalloped edges are folded inwards - Apply glue to the outside scallops - Press the hollow box onto the Box Bottom.

6. Adhere the DP squares to the box sides.

7. On opposite sides of the box - Locate the center and punch a hole approximately 3/4" from the top.

Creating and attaching the handle

1. Glue the DP strip on top of the plain CS strip.

2. At about 3/4" from each end, Punch hole

3. With the handle on the inside of the box - Align the holes and Attach Brads.

Your Box is Complete now decorate as desired.

....................What did I use.................
PaperTrey Ink: Love Songs stamp set, Rasberry Fizz - perfect match ink, polka dot satin ribbon, solid cardstock and designer patterned paper, Dark Chocolate ink, white cardstock
Marvy Uchida scallop circle punches
Nestabilities large scallop squares
heart rhinestone for nail art,
glitter
Stampin'Up: chocolate chip cs
Copic marker cool grey for shadow

**** T G I F ****

Grab a glass of Vino or a cup of Cafe' and settle in because today I am a little long winded but obviously have a lot to share..

I cannot believe how tired I have been this week.. It totally shows in my face, I don't have bags, I have luggage. I keep thinking that I am coming down with something based on how lethargic and achy I feel in the evenings... Dave and Adam have both been sick so I am expecting it. I am not scheduled to work next week so I am hoping that I will be able to relax and stamp all weekend then tackle the house on Monday.... O we all know how that will pan out. I won't accomplish anything in my craft world because the dirt will clutter my mind........

Today I want to share with you the Verve "Looking for Love" challenge that I have been participating in. I am uploading the sketches along with what I created based on what I see when I look at them. Let me know what you think. They are listed in the order from Day 1- Day 4.

Day 1 - I created a 3"x3" in order to start getting ideas for what I might create for Adam to hand out to his classmates. Probably not going to be this. Again I have reached for the "Black Tie Birdies" by Verve but I also used one of the stamps in Recipe Labels by PaperTrey Ink to create the pedastal for my bird.

Day 2 - I hope that Verve can forgive me for not using Verve Stamps. Apparently when I looked at that sketch, I saw sailboats!!! This is one of my new PaperTrey Ink sets called Men of Life.

Day 3 - This time I again reached for a Verve stamp called Notes of Prayer. I have a feeling that I will reach for that one quit a bit. I love the details in that cross. I used my Cuttlebug with the Textile embossing folder to emboss, as well as, my Nestabilities to create the scalloped squares. The satin polka dot ribbon is Plum Pudding by PaperTrey Ink.

Day 4 - This is not my favorite and I did not use Verve ;o( I used a combination of Piece of Cake with the numbers from Ambassador Monogram Edition, which are both PTI. The dimensional sticker was something that was laying around my desk.

If you are not familiar with any of the stamps or companies that I am speaking of, I have made it possible to link to them by clicking the highlighted words.......

I believe that the owner, Julee Tilman, will be actually judging the entries vs. using a random number generator. I am glad and I PRAY that she LIKES MY WORK... BTW, tonight is their big stamp release PARTY

Kinda Boring

I hope that this card is only boring to me..... Sometimes we can be our worst critics and I guess I just don't do simplicity very well but I sure do like it when I see someone else pull it off..............

Yesterday was super exciting. We spent the day at the Motorcycle Race Track and got to meet one of our idols/heros "Troy Bayliss" World Champion of Super Bike....  I cannot find my camera so no photos of him or the amazing card that I completed today............  We were beyond tired when we got home last night so without unloading the car, I took a shower and went to bed with wet hair........ Yea!!!!! BED HEAD GALORE.........

Is it just me or did everyone know that today was MONDAY???? Had no clue that today was not Sunday until I called my friend Paul. Kept hearing the phones ring in the background and it wasn't until my old boss said "she just keeps getting better looking" did I realize that today was a workday for the rest of the world. Yes I saw the news regarding the stock market and didn't read it because I thought they were still reporting on Friday........... HMMMMMMMM (yes the vino is kicking in but this has been an all day thing)

BACK to the card!!! White card base with a scalloped edge, blue cuttlebugged layer. Another white cuttlebugged circle, stamped circle and DONE!!!!!!!!!!!! 5 MINUTES...... Simplicity at it's finest............Does it need a ribbon, rhinestones???? Let me know what you think..... In the mean time I will look for my camera and upload one of my favorite cards of ALL TIME..............

Fall Tags

Not a whole lot to talk about today, I'm feeling kinda blah.  I ended up subbing 3 times this week so now I feel as though the house is filthy and chaotic.

These cards, on the other hand,  have a very tranquil feel to them don't ya think??  I stamped the chocolate chip cs with the large, retired, background stamp called French Script (SU), layered it onto the card base and added a little photo brad.  The tag is a piece of More Mustard cs with inked edges, rounded corners and a piece of patterned paper layered on top.  I punched a whole, added the ribbon, stamped the sentiment and adhered it onto the brown.

The second card is similar, however, I embossed More Mustard using my Cuttlebug, added a scalloped scrap to the bottom, added some twill to the ribbon and changed the sentiment..

Super simple and super quick.  Lauren Meader had issued a 5-minute card challenge and this is what I came up with.  I hope that everyone enjoys their weekend.................
..........................................Recipe......................................
paper: whisper white, more mustard, chocolate chip, bravo burgandy, very vanilla (SU)
ink: close to cocoa (SU)
stamps: french script (SU retired), out on a limb (PTI)
tools: corner rounder punch, whole punch, cuttlebug, fall harvest embossing folder, copper mini brad, organza ribbon, chocolate chip twill ribbon

Fall Greetings

I have really been on a FALLISH kick lately. Maybe it's the outside temp cooling down a bit? I duuno but I am really enjoying Fall this year.  I have always dreaded this time of year because in is indicative that WINTER is coming. I do not like Winter, I do not enjoy being cold,  wearing layers, close toed shoes, coats, heaters burn my nose and make it bleed, and I think snow is ugly. Probably shouldn't go on, I will only depress myself and not be able to enjoy this gloomy day. LOL, I really am not depressed (at the moment) but that kind of talk would depress anyone. NO NO quit the contrary. As I was saying, I'm on a Fallish kick...................

I created this cute little card for my Granny (yes I even mailed it the same day that I created it, WOOO HOOOO).  I couldn't remember how I colored in the "OLD tree" so I couldn't get the same effect, which is why I had to sponge it. LOL, that was my fix for ugly coloring. Kinda made it look like a Blustery day, Huh?  I love these Cuttlebug embossing folders. Such a fast way to add detail to an otherwise boring card base.

Not going to be long winded today.  I know I know, no need to thank me so go out and enjoy your Sunday. I'm headed out to do some yard work. See ya'll domani

Season's Greetings

Check this out!!!! Even I cannot believe that I created 8 cards that are all exactly the same!!! Sort of all the same, I did try to spice them up a bit with moving the balls around within the embossing folder.  I love this color combination. The Aqua Mist by PTI is so Tiffany blue.  I love the simplicity yet complexity of this card so much so that they will be OUR Christmas cards this year. Eight will probably be all that I send out too.  Everyone is always talking about  using the assembly line technique and "Whipping" cards out. NOT!!! OK I guess if I consider that I "whipped out" 8 cards in one afternoon that would actually be good timing for me. I was getting so bored that I just wanted to be finished already. Although I am bored with the design, I continue to think of different color combinations that would be cool.  Any ideas?

I took a day off from cards yesterday and went shopping with my daughter.  We had such a good time at the open air market in Catania.  I was on a mission to find the perfect pair of shoes to go with my outfit for the Khaki Ball!!!  Mission Accomplished!!!!!! I could not believe my luck. Not only did I find the PERFECT shoes but they came with the PERFECT price.  3 euro ($4.27) - - - - - How freaky is that. The box alone would cost more than that and yes the box is even cute.  Maybe it isn't the box but that library tag? The market is full of cheap shoes - cheap quality, cheap price. However, there are 2 or 3 vendors that sale designer shoes so obviously it is hit or miss. I just happened to get lucky. FATE.....mixed with end of the season sale.

I am itching to go create some of the ideas floating around in my head and even thinking about playing along with Lauren Meader's sketch challenge.  Drop in tomorrow and have a FABULOUS SATURDAY =0)
